PCMA is the acronym for the Professional Coaches and Mentors Association, a non-profit coaching and mentoring association.
PCMA is truly a community - one of colleagues, friends and people who all have a common goal of helping others be successful and reach their potential. PCMA was founded by coaches and mentors based on mutual support, learning and sharing. Members have long shown unselfishness as they generously assist each other. In fact, many guests to our chapter meetings have commented on the unique spirit of help and support shown by our members to both colleagues and guests. As PCMA grows larger (+27% this year) and more geographically diverse, we face the ongoing challenge of sharing the original philosophy and spirit of PCMA with new chapters and new members. In order to preserve and grow this special part of PCMA, the Board decided to take specific steps to focus on this issue.
In a strategic planning session a year ago your Board began wrestling with the "Spirit of PCMA" and how to insure we pass on our founding values. Ken Masco was asked to form a task force to define these values and develop an action plan to reinforce them. That task force included Vance Caesar, Agnes Mura, Jon White, Paula Polizzi and Ken. Recommendations from that task force caused us to re-examine our Vision and Mission. In August and September of this year the Board (now inclusive of the Chapter Presidents) did the hard work of gaining clarity surrounding our Vision and Mission, built on these Values, as defined by the task force.
Below is printed the completed restatement of our Vision, Mission and Values. You will be hearing more about this in your chapter meetings and will begin to see visual reminders - all designed to help us preserve who we truly are and want to be; and, designed to help us more clearly and succinctly communicate about PCMA to others.
